The DC Extended Universe is sinking again as chaos sweeps the web

Fans are left scratching their heads as rumours of cancellations begin to circulate

What the hell is going on?

One minute we think the DC Extended Universe is continuing to movie forward nicely, the next chaos erupts as rumours circulate of cancelled projects and actors getting the boot.

So what exactly is going on?

The Batman and Ben Affleck’s future!

Earlier this week a rumours started to make the rounds that Matt Reeves upcoming Batman reboot would no longer be taking place in the DC Extended Universe, which signalled the end of Ben Affleck’s reign as the Dark Knight.

How exactly this rumour got traction I will never know, but with fans losing their minds across the vast universe of social media, Reeves took to Twitter to calm the waters and set the record straight.

It appears an interview Reeves gave a while ago was taken completely out of context, inadvertently starting a mass panic amongst DC fans. It probably didn’t help that Casey Affleck made comments recently about his brother’s future as Batman, or lack there of to be more precise.

From what we know, Ben Affleck is still very much apart of Matt Reeves plans for a new Batman trilogy, that although will be a stand-alone franchise, will still take place in the same universe as Batman v Superman and Justice League.

The Joker and Harley Quinn!

DC announced last year that it was in early talks with Suicide Squad director David Ayer to bring Gotham City Sirens to the big screen, featuring Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn.

Until yesterday it appeared that this project was making good progress with Jared Leto even jumping on board to portray is Joker character that we got a somewhat brief glimpse of in last year’s Suicide Squad.

Now however that all appears to have disappeared, with DC opting to release a Joker and Harley Quinn movie instead.

As with most news regarding DC’s floundering universe, it’s still hearsay at this point, with no-one really having any clue what the hell is actually going on – but if rumours are to be believed, then it appears David Ayer has had a falling out with Warner Bros, resulting in them opting for a Joker movie instead.

Perhaps this explains why Suicide Squad 2 has recently been fast-tracked into pre-production.

As always, stay tuned for more info.
