Back in 2015 we lost one of the most beloved characters in cinema history… the great Han Solo. It was a heartbreaking time for the millions of Star Wars fans around the world as we said goodbye to Harrison Ford’s legendary character… or so we thought.
Turns out Han Solo might not be as dead as we thought – at least in terms of this involvement in this year’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Rumours circulated a while back that Harrison Ford has shot a flashback scene involving Han Solo and Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker. If the rumour proves true it will mark the first time these two characters have appeared on the big screen together in over 35 years – so it’s something that’s stirred up quite a bit of excitement.
Rian Johnson, the man tasked with helming Episode 8 of the cinematic franchise, spoke recently to Entertainment Weekly about the impact Han Solo will have on the story of Episode 8 and in particular Kylo Ren and Luke Skywalker.
Kylo has definitely been knocked off base. The defeat that he had at the end of The Force Awakens, but even bigger than that, his huge defining act which, spoiler alert, is the murder of his father… that’s the more interesting thing to dive into. How has he dealt with that in his head? Where is he at in terms of that act and what does that mean for him?
Little is still known about The Last Jedi, although we do know that Luke Skywalker will play a main role in the storyline, as will Princess Leia, played by the late Carrie Fisher.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits cinemas worldwide this Christmas. Check out the trailer below.
