Well, can’t say we’re that surprised that Joe Manganiello has just been confirmed as Deathstroke by the Head of DC Entertainment himself – considering the Magic Mike star has been widely tipped since Ben Affleck released unexpected test footage a couple of weeks ago.
Many sources had picked up on the fact that Manganiello is currently in London, which of course is the home to production of the hotly anticipated Justice League blockbuster, and had been close to Warner Bros Studios in London around the same time as Ben Affleck released the Deathstroke test footage on social media. As you can imagine the rumour mill went into overdrive as people started to speculate on the actors potential involvement in the project.
Shortly after DC confirmed the news, Manganiello retweeted The Wall Street Journal’s article as well as Ben Affleck test footage:

Geoff Johns, DC Entertainment‘s President and Chief Creative Officer (not a job many would want right now), confirmed the casting to The Wall Street Journal, though he didn’t confirm the details surrounding Joe Manganiello‘s contract with the studio or whether we can expect to see a glimpse of the character in the upcoming Justice League film.
One source has claimed that the test footage released a couple of weeks ago is for a cameo introduction of the character that could appear in the closing credits of Justice League – leading on into a full debut appearance in Ben Affleck’s upcoming solo Batman reboot as the films main villain.
Stay tuned for more info as it comes in.
