Ben Affleck To Explore Arkham Asylum In Solo Batman Movie?

There’s not really been much noise recently regarding Ben Affleck’s solo Batman movie, perhaps due to the recent critical fallout surrounding Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and the current box office release, Suicide Squad – both of which have seen Ben Affleck showered with praise for his authentic and gritty Bruce Wayne/Batman character.

Though these two franchises have fallen flat with audiences and critics alike, Ben Affleck has proven a sound investment for Warner Bros Pictures who should be eager to give the Oscar-winner all the support he needs to get a new Batman trilogy off the ground.

So what can we expect from this eagerly anticipated new solo franchise? Well for starters a hell of a lot of villians according to some insider reports. Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Jared Leto have all publically expressed interest in appearing alongside Affleck in his movie as their villainous characters Deadshot, Harley Quinn and Joker, so could we see a large portion of the film head to Gotham City’s infamous Arkham Asylum? Perhaps so. Especially if Ben Affleck and Warner Bros want to include an abundance of top DC villains.

Speaking a while back with Total Film, Ben Affleck expressed his excitement for the project but also his desire to ensure the right story idea is nurtured correctly.

“Look, if I could make it work, yeah, obviously it would be a dream. The trick is, as to any movie, is to make sure that you – if you’re going to direct it – that you can make it good. You’ve got to have the right idea and the right take on it. Broadly speaking, it’s something I’d be open to, for sure. It’s a very exciting idea” – Ben Affleck

Arkham Asylum has yet to really feature in any big screen Batman adaptations, with Christopher Nolan opting to exclude it entirely from his successful Dark Knight trilogy – so there’s definitely a creative option there for Affleck who’s already confirmed a script has been completed even before Batman v Superman hit cinemas at the beginning of the year.

Of course we’ll bring more on the future of Batfleck as soon as it comes in.
