Jennifer Lawrence arguably the biggest actress on the planet, with her choice of almost any film and the ability to demand salaries in excess of $20 million per movie – so it’s no surprise the Hunger Games actress has claimed the highest paid actress title for the second year running with an estimated $46 million.
Despite having completed her X-Men and Hunger Games franchises, Lawrence can attribute most of her salary earnings to the upcoming sci-fi drama, Passengers – the Oscar-winner has reportedly taken home around $25 million. To put her star power into perspective, her co-star Chris Pratt earned only $12 million for the role, despite being considered one of the most bankable actors in Hollywood.
Ghostbusters star Melissa McCarthy shot into second place this year with total earning’s of around $33 million, despite her latest blockbuster proving a disappointment at the global box office, taking only $170 million, despite an overall production and marketing budget of $250 million.
Rounding off the top 3 is Marvel bad-ass Scarlett Johansson, who earned a total of $25 million thanks to her appearance in this year’s Captain America: Civil War, as well as lending her voice to Disney’s remake of The Jungle Book.
Surprisingly both Lawrence and Johansson still made the top 3 despite earning considerably less in 2016 than the previous year (Lawrence: $54 million, Johansson: $33 million).
