We all knew it was enevitable, but the Guardians of the Galaxy have officially been confirmed for Avengers: Infinity War by Vin Diesel himself, during a Facebook live stream.
Speaking from the set of Fast 8, Vin Diesel gave eager fans an unexpected exclusive by confirming the appearance of himself and the rest of his Guardians of the Galaxy team in the upcoming colossal blockbuster Avengers: Infinity War.
“Next year, you’ve got Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 coming, and that whole concept started from you all saying, ‘When are you going to be in a Marvel movie, when are you going to be in a Marvel movie?’ And you remember the first picture after that Marvel meeting that I had, where I was standing with the Avengers thing in the background … there was an old Avengers copy behind me in the picture.
What’s going to be surreal is, that picture is going to come to pass because now the Guardians will be included in Avengers: Infinity War and that’s incredibly exciting, incredibly exciting. Incredibly exciting, and something that if you were a part of our page, you knew before everybody, or you were told before everybody.”
Vin Diesel did tease his possible inclusion not too long ago when he posted a picture to his official Instagram account of himself standing next to a framed Avengers comic book – though fans didn’t read too much into it at the time.
There’s been no official word from Marvel Studios, or Diesel’s other cast members for that matter, but with rumours circulating a couple of months back that Chris Pratt would feature in the sequel as Star Lord, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the rest of the gang turn up as well.
With Joe and Anthony Russo, who’ve taken over the reigns of the Avengers franchise, confirming recently that ‘Infinity War’ will no longer be a two-part blockbuster, we can expect official confirmation from the directors or Marvel Studios in the coming weeks.
Avengers: Infinity War hits cinemas worldwide from 4 May 2018.
