A second Bad Boys sequel has been in circling Hollywood for some time now since the last in the franchise hit cinemas back in 2003, but now the project seems to be making serious advancements after the official title was announced yesterday.
Bad Boys For Life is the perfectly suited name given to the project that will see Will Smith and Martin Lawrence once again return as Miami’s most prolific narcotics cops.
As well as the awesome title change, it was also announced yesterday that the third installment in the franchise will be pushed back six month for a January 2018 release date – not surprising considering the film is yet to enter pre-production.
Last year after Smith and Lawrence announced they’d signed off for the sequel, Michael Bay confirmed he was stepping down as director and handing over the reigns to Smokin’ Aces and A-Team director Joe Carnahan, though this is still yet to be confirmed.
We’re also waiting on plot details for the action-blockbuster, but one thing we can confirm is a slight character development for Detective Mike Lowrey (played by Will Smith), who appears to have a young son after the cast listing on IMDb was changed in recent weeks. It’s not yet known whether this is a continuation of his relationship with Gabriel Union’s character from the second film, but it would certainly make sense for the storyline.
