There’s a post by Robert Downey Jr making the rounds on Facebook at the moment for reportedly leaking the insane cast list for the upcoming mega-blockbuster Avengers: Infinity War – but not all is what it seems to be.
Fans have understandably hit the roof with the news that every known Marvel actor will appear in the next installment of the multi-billion dollar franchise, but it appears Mr Downey Jr is trying to stir up a little trouble in between films by releasing what’s been confirmed as a fan-made cast list.
The picture featured above shows a smorgasbord of Hollywood royalty that includes the names of both Marvel Studios and Marvel Entertainment (TV) franchises, and would be enough to get any Marvel fan hot under the collar – sadly though it’s authenticity was almost immediately quashed as nothing more than a hoax by the Oscar-nominated actor.
Why you may ask? Well we’ll tell you.
First it’s worth pointing out that Avengers: Infinity War will no longer be delivered to cinemas in two-parts, and will instead stand as a single film to be released in 2018. The news filtered through recently that from the big wigs over at Marvel Studios who clearly feel the story has shifted slightly from their original plan, resulting in the May 2019 release now simply carrying the title of Untitled Avengers Movie.
Another point worth mentioning is that Marvel has already confirmed some time ago that those starring in it’s numerous Television series’ would not make the crossover into the Marvel Cinematic Universe – something that came as a disappointment for many who’d hoped that the likes of Charlie Cox, who currently stars as Daredevil on Netflix, would make the transition to the silver-screen.
Regardless of whether this was accurate or not, Avengers: Infinity War is gearing up to be one of the biggest cinematic releases in history.
