Marvel has been a prominent figure at the annual Comic Con International, especially since the launch of Iron Man back in 2008 – but last year the studio giant opted to take a step back from the limelight.
Next month however Marvel will once again take to the main hall to showcase multiple upcoming franchises, including the highly anticipated Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2, which is due to finish production later this week.
James Gunn, who returns to writing and directing duties following the huge success of the first installment, tweeted a mysterious hint a couple of days ago that Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will be in attendance at this year’s Comic Con after responding to an earlier tweet by Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson;
Really? You’ll be so close. I might have to come see you. https://t.co/LbqvjJ46Vg

Considering Marvel’s lack of appearance last year, the studio will certainly be looking to make a splash this year, especially with rival studio Warner Bros., who owns DC Comics, going all out for Suicide Squad that will see the upcoming blockbuster take over the Hard Rock Hotel.
Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 will see Chris Pratt return as his character Star Lords continues to search the galaxy for answers surrounding his mysterious father, who’ll be played by Hollywood icon Kurt Russell. Other stars returning for the sequel include Zoe Saldana, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper and Dave Bautista.
News as to which cast members will be in attendance for Comic Con is still unknown, but you can almost bet that most will make the journey to San Diego to showcase exclusive content and insider knowledge.
Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 hits cinemas worldwide from 5 May 2017.
