J.K. Simmons Goes All Out For DC Comics Role

When it comes to superhero movie roles, there’s rarely an actor that won’t go to extreme lengths to make the part as authentic as possible – but some will take it to a whole new level, like Oscar-winner J.K. Simmons.

Having recently landed the role of Commissioner Gordon in the upcoming Warner Bros. blockbusters, Justice League, Whiplash star J.K. Simmons has taken on the challenge of starring opposite the likes Ben Affleck, Jason Momoa and Henry Cavill very seriously by beefing up to a near unrecognisable level.

Simmons personal trainer, Aaron Williamson, took to Instagram to share a series of snaps showing the 61 year-old Oscar-winning actor’s incredible transformation;

Considering the sheer muscle size of his co-stars, it’s no wonder Simmons wants to make a statement of intent in the role – this year’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice provided us with a bigger, grittier array of characters that appeared more inline with the comic characters than previously seen on screen.

Justice League Part 1 is due to start filming towards the end of this year with Ben Affleck, who’s currently portraying Bruce Wayne/Batman, taking more creative control over the two-part blockbuster after the critical panning that Batman v Superman received following it’s release earlier this year.

See the cast list for Justice League – Part 1 below:

Ben Affleck – Bruce Wayne/Batman
Henry Cavill – Clark Kent/Superman
Jason Momoa – Arthur Curry/Aquaman
Gal Gadot – Diana Price/Wonder Woman
Ezra Miller – Barry Allen/The Flash
J.K. Simmons – Commissioner Gordon
Amy Adams – Lois Lane
Jeremy Irons – Alfred
Ray Fisher – Victor Stone/Cyborg
