The sequel to the 2015 box office hit, Kingsman, seems to be making a serious statement of intent by recruiting a whole host of A-list talent – and it’s latest addition to the cast list is non-other than music superstar Sir Elton John.
Confirming the role yesterday via his Instagram account, Sir Elton notified his followers, in the same fashion as Channing Tatum and Colin Firth, that he would be joining the stellar cast for Kingsman: The Golden Circle;
The Oscar-winning star is yet to confirm details regarding his character or how much he will feature in the blockbuster sequel, that also sees Hollywood stars Channing Tatum, Halle Berry and Julianne Moore join original stars Taron Egerton, Colin Firth and Mark Strong for the Matthew Vaughn directed sequel.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle will mark the first time Elton John has appeared in a live-action movie since The Who’s 1975 musical classic Tommy, in which the ‘Rocket Man’ singer played a wizard.
Many fans might be hoping that Elton’s role will lend more towards the villainous kind that would see him team up with fellow Oscar-winner Julianne Moore, who’s signed on to play the main Protagonist in a story that will see Kingsman agents flee to the US after an attack on their secret countryside HQ.
With production already underway, we won’t have to wait long to learn what Sir Elton’s role will be – as well as how Colin Firth will be introduced back into the fold, having met a very untimely and unexpected end in the first film.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle hits cinemas worldwide from 16 June 2017.
