There’s an interesting rumour circulating Hollywood at the moment regarding one of Britain’s biggest acting exports and a multi-billion dollar global movie franchise – and if the hearsay is true, it would be brilliant.
Oscar-nominee and Mad Max star Tom Hardy is currently roumoured to be in talks with Disney execs over a possible role in the next Star Wars installment – currently shooting at Pinewood Studios, and due for release next year.
Many leading sources are claiming it may infact only be a small cameo role as a Stormtrooper, similar to that played by Daniel Craig in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Due however to Hardy’s star-status, the role may act as a pivotal point in the yet unknown storyline, but one confirmed to focus on the relationship between Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill).
Leading Star Wars source makingstarwars.net has confirmed the roumors as true and is also claiming Hardy will have a friendship connection to Finn (John Boyega), who you’ll remember turned his back on the Imperial Alliance in favour of fighting for the Resistance.
The news would be a welcome boost for the studio giant as it looks to continue it’s record-breaking box office run after Star Wars: The Force Awakens smashed several records during it’s release and earn’t Disney a whopping $2 billion at the global box office.
More confirmation from Disney will likely follow in the next couple of weeks as production on Star Wars: Episode VIII prepares for its December 2017 release.
