Big news coming from Twentieth Century Fox HQ regarding a potential crossover between two of it’s biggest Marvel franchises, Deadpool and X-Men that could see the studio reach the billion dollar mark at the box office.
X-Men visionary Bryan Singer, who will soon be releasing the next installment in the hit franchise, has hinted at the very real possibilty of a Deadpool and X-Men crossover in the near future (I’m guessing so long as Deadpool can behave himself enough).
Speaking recently during the X-Men: Apocalypse promotional tour, Singer confirmed that a crossover would be more than probable so long as the small details are considered sensibly;
One of the biggest challenges facing the potential project would be successful integrating an R-rated character into a primarily family friendly franchise like X-Men. Due to the incredible popularity of Deadpool and it’s ability to out perform any film at the box office, it would likely be X-Men making the transition towards an R-rated audience.
Deadpool, starring Ryan Reynolds in the title role, has already teased crossovers into the X-Men world with an abundance of references to the famous mutants their unofficial leader Wolverine, who has already starred alongside the character in 2008’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, so the foundations are already there so to speak.
I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if things materialise – but there’s no doubt that Ryan Reynolds would be up for it.
