Over the last couple of months Tom Cruise has been busy filming the hotly anticipated ‘Mummy’ reboot – relaunching the much loved horror classic that was let down hugely in 2008 with the release of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
Keen to reboot the franchise and pull in audiences, Universal cast arguably one of the world’s biggest action stars in the title role – but now Tom Cruise may find himself joined by another legend of the big screen as Oscar-winner Russell Crowe is reportedly in talks to join the franchise.
Crowe, who can be seen on screen next alongside Ryan Gosling in The Nice Guys, is rumoured to be joining the reboot as the famous literature character Dr. Jekyll.
How exactly the character will feature in the storyline is yet to be discovered, as is the involvement of Dr. Jekyll’s monsterous alter-ego Mr Hyde – though it’s clear that Universal is very keen on Crowe for the part.
The Mummy reboot, which is currently shooting in London and starring Sofia Boutella and Jake Johnson, is due for release next year (2017).
