Robert Downey Jr Joins Tom Holland In ‘Spider-Man’ Reboot

Major Marvel update has just hit the airwaves and it’s a massive game-changer for the Spider-Man franchise.

The Hollywood Fly reported last week that Marvel had finally been given creative control by Sony over it’s often ill-fated Spider-Man franchise, and now it appears the upcoming reboot may have landed the catalist it needed to sucessfully reboot.

Marvel Godfather Robert Downey Jr has exclusively confirmed that his Iron Man character will be starring alongside Tom Holland in Spider-Man: Homecoming – the first installment in a brand new franchise produced by Marvel themselves.

Although there is no confirmation on how involved Downey Jr will be in the project, he will defintely be making an appearance – something that will come as great relief to fans who may have been worried about boring plot repeats preciously seen in other Spider-Man films.

Tom Holland, who took over web-slinging duties last year, has just made his Marvel universe debut in Captain America: Civil War, fighting on the side of RDJ’s Iron Man – and initial reports claim the storyline for ‘Homecoming’ will explore the origins of Spider-Man and Iron Man’s initial meeting.

Many had assumed that RDJ would start to wind down his appearances as Tony Stark/Iron Man, but that may not nessessarily be the case now after the actor teased a potential fourth Iron Man film during an exclusive interview with ABC Nightline.

With Marvel‘s phase three currently underway, and Avengers: Infinity Wars – Parts 1 and 2 on the horizon, it would certainly be a stretch for the Oscar-nominated actor to fit in anothrr solo film, but never say never.

Spider-Man: Homecoming is due for release next summer (2017).
