So unless you’ve been on holiday from social media over the last 24 hours, you’ll know that Marvel and Twentieth Century Fox have released the final trailer for the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, and there’s a little surprise for fans at the end.
Up until now, we’ve been led to believe that franchise superstar Hugh Jackman would not be returning for the sequel to X-Men: Days of Future Past, instead opting to focus on his final appearance as the famed mutant Wolverine in the yet untitled third Wolverine film – though that may have just been a smoke screen for something else.
For those who’ve watched the trailer below, you’ll know that right at the end we see the famous adamantium claws owned by Wolverine – clearly confirming the actors involvement in the Bryan Singer directed blockbuster… or does it?
It’s a question that many hardcore fans have been asking after rumours started circulating around Hollywood that studio execs have lined up a new actor to continue on after Hugh Jackman’s record-breaking reign comes to an end after what will be 17 years when Wolverine 3 hits cinemas next year.
So is Jackman involved? Or are we about to see something entirely new? Only time will tell as you’ll have to wait until X-Men: Apocalypse hits cinemas on May 27.
