With last installment in the Jurassic Park franchise smashing box office records last year, and reigniting our love for dinosaurs again, the question of who’ll take over the helm of Jurassic World 2 has been a hot topic of conversation.
Many of Hollywood‘s top directors have expressed interest in continuing the franchise – but it seems Universal has finally found it’s new captain in the form of ‘The Impossible’ visionary J.A. Bayona. The Spanish-born director will team up with returning cast heavyweights Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard who’ve both confirmed their involvement in the project.
The still relatively unknown director will certainly have the change to cement his place as one of Hollywood’s most exciting new talents when the sequel hits cinemas in 2018, especially considering some of the names being linked to the project.
Though it’s all still speculation at this point, originally Jurassic Park alumni Sam Neill, Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum have all expressed a keen interest to once again step into their characters shoes, especially Goldblum, who’s not been shy about hiding his excitement;
“I’m nothing if not open [to the project]. I’m like an open-faced sandwich. My door is always open – I took the door hinges off. I removed the hinges from the door. I’m too open. I’m like a chicken piccata”.
Not quite sure what a ‘chicken piccata’ is but he certainly sounds ready to enter the famous park again, which is exciting news for fans who’ve always had a soft spot for the actor and his character.
The park opens once again on June 22, 2018 and will definitely be bigger and badder than ever.
